The reason I started entering bikini modeling events was:...

I initially started competing to learn more about health and fitness, and actually began as a figure competitor who later switched to bikini. Over time, as I became more educated about health and fitness, my motivations evolved into challenging myself to reach new short- and long-term goals.

The person I owe the most to is...

Garry Bartlett, fitness photographer/writer and president of the New Brunswick Physique and Figure Association, has always been my major supporter. His endless encouragement and advice are much appreciated, and I owe him a lot. As well, I owe my coach Andrew Pierce (Just4Show) for being a fantastic trainer. He’s amazing at what he does! I also owe my loved ones immensely, particularly my boyfriend, Mike, and my parents. They have followed me along this journey, learning about the sport together. One person might step onstage, but it takes many people to reach that finish line.

The supplements I can’t live without are...

GLUTAMEND glutamine. Who doesn’t want to heal from their workouts faster? Plus, it’s great for boosting the immune system.

AGENT•M BCAAs. These reduce muscle inflammation after a hard workout and are perfect for increasing muscle growth. BCAAs are essential amino acids included in muscle proteins.

Whey protein. Consuming enough protein is essential to progressing as a bodybuilder. It can be difficult to ensure this happens, especially if in a hurry. Protein shakes are a great way to reach your daily protein intake.

STRONGMAN. Everyone should take a vitamin year-round to ensure they get enough nutrients.

The best thing about training is...

The best thing about training is being able to change how you look and feel. Nothing beats the feeling of having a plan, following through with that plan, and watching yourself transform. It can be challenging at times, but there’s a great sense of accomplishment that comes with seeing your goals through to the end.

Something I would change about bikini modeling events is...

I actually find the name “bikini” is misleading; it doesn’t speak to the hard work and dedication required to compete in this division. The general public often has a negative opinion towards bodybuilding, and having the title of a division called “bikini” only encourages these negative opinions and misunderstanding.

My ultimate goal is...

My ultimate goal is to have a lifelong career in the health and fitness industry and for the continued success of my small business, Knox & Jersey Apparel. As well, my goal is to inspire others to chase their dreams. I’m from a very small town, and it can be discouraging at times when trying to pursue certain aspirations. I hope people believe that anything can happen in life as long as you’re committed to achieving it!

Years I’ve been training...

I began weight lifting in 2000, and have been training competitively since 2005.

What I enjoy most about what I do is...

I really like meeting other people who also enjoy the bodybuilding lifestyle. It’s great to hear about someone else’s journey and successes. It inspires me to train hard and stay focused.

Something people should know about me is...

People often don’t know I have a degree in science, a certificate in visual arts and a diploma in fashion design. I’ve spent many a year in school! I used my education in the arts to create Knox & Jersey, my custom bodybuilding, figure and bikini competition suit company, but I love biology and sometimes miss all the science labs.

The day I got my pro card I...

Well, it took a while to really sink in, but when it did, I cried. The competition was tough that day, both in my division and for the overall. Winning my pro card felt surreal until I opened the envelope to find the actual card.

The pro I most look forward to being onstage with is...

I’m really looking forward to meeting Jaime Baird. She seems like a genuinely kind person and I admire her success. I hope I’ll get the opportunity to chat with her in the future.
